Padmanabha is a Core Systems-aligned planet in the Austru System of Thunderbird Sector.

Planetary Data

Geographic Data

Padmanabha is a misshapen lump of rock with a pair of high-tech bases mounted onto the surface and dug into the core. While the planetoid's meager 1,750-km diameter creates a gravity of 0.07g, the stations are fully equipped with artificial gravity generators kept to 0.8g. Internal atmosphere is a high-oxygen mix at 0.9atm that allows for smoking and other open flames.

Demographics

Padmanabha's twin bases have 6 million people split between them - 4 million in Phra Phrom and 2 million in Prajapati. The citizens here are known as pacifists, having originally settled the rock to avoid the entanglements of the Human-Skaald War.

Economics

Decades of heavy traffic along the Lavigne Route have made Padmanabha a wealthy rock. Its main exports are cybernetics, though in recent years the market has begun to dwindle - the cost of piracy has driven up shipping costs and shifted production to other planets.

Politics

Padmanabha has been ruled under the same dynasty for more than one hundred years. Despite its proximity to a Republic prison world and a Navy fortress, protection in Austru System is slight, something the Navy has yet to correct, regardless of the pleadings of the shuttered rulers.

The neutrality of this section has been disputed.

Sector politics are realigning, and Padmanabha is being phased out.
