Hudson is a Core Systems-aligned planet in the Hudson System of Manticore Sector.

Planetary Data

Geographic Data

Hudson is approximately 10,000km in diameter with a breathable nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. Bodies of water account for 62% of the planet's surface area. Surface gravity is equal to 0.7g. Average planetary pressure is 0.91 atmospheres.

The planetary population is approximately 5 million citizens. Core Systems heritage dominates the population, genetics-wise, even though the populace is voracious to learn of offworld customs and traditions.

Hudson, being a garden planet with a large amount of independently wealthy citizens, has little to offer in the way of manufactured goods. Instead, much of the planet's economic value comes from its high number of artisans, crafters and specialist workers. Hudsonian wines, sculptures and handcrafted tools fetch a premium price on the sectoral market, and all manner of local and foreign wares find a market on-planet.

Hudson can afford to select its Core Systems representative body by election - after all, with annual income rarely dipping below six figures in 'low income' brackets, any given citizen can pay for their own campaigns on the local CoreNet. It has a bit of an unusual system in its sub-planetary government, in that Hudson's surface is broken up into a number of 'marches', each of which is ruled by its own marquess or marchioness. Ownership - and thus, peerage - can be bought or sold, but undoubtedly the most prestigious of the rulers are those whose families have held their land for generations. Some of these marquesses can be as influential among the populace as any elected official.

Travellers' Information

There are no major travel advisories in effect for planet Hudson. Visitors are advised to be open about their own traditions and extremely respectful of the locals' expressed beliefs, lest they provoke an altercation.

Travellers' Resources

Hudson has a single small starport open to travellers - twenty berths for ships up to approximately one-thousand tons of displacement each. There are smaller, private facilities spread across the planet's surface, mainly for the use of the marquesses and other private owners. The primary starport outside of Sandover City houses the Hudson hostel-chapter of the Traveller's Aid Society, and TAS members are encouraged to check in at the front desk for updates on planetary events and safety concerns. Sandover City itself holds a Core Systems consulate, the formal representative of the Core Systems Free Republic on Hudsonian soil, for when the direct intervention of the Republic is needed.
